Position Summary

Perform all standard accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliations, administrative and office support activities. Act as back-up and support for Accounting Manager.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist Accounting Manager with supervision and support of Accounting staff.
  • Act as temporary manager in the event Accounting Manager is out of the office. Back-up all Accounting Manager tasks.
  • Reconcile bank account and general ledger.
  • Assist with Balance Sheet Account reconciliations of Balance Sheet control accounts and other accounts such as; Accounts Payable Aging Report, Received Goods not yet invoiced by Vendors (RGNI), Prepayments and Accruals, and Vendor Deposits.
  • Accounts Receivable entries, mailing invoices, and follow up with unpaid invoices.
  • Code invoices from the chart of accounts and input into computer for payment.
  • Prepare A/P checks for signatures, reconcile monthly vendor statements, research discrepancies within Accounts Payable.
  • Perform other various Accounting, Payroll and/or Clerical duties which may be required and as directed by Supervisor.
  • Position requires professional daily interaction with various departments.
  • Keep work area organized, clean and safe.
  • Responsible for routine office tasks which may include opening and stamping daily departmental mail, maintaining files, copying, and answering phones.
  • Must maintain an excellent attendance record following all company policies and procedures in the Employee Handbook and safety rules. Including working the core work hours of Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:45 pm.
  • Provide quality customer service.
  • Provide timely and accurate information to Executive Management.
  • Organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks at one time.
  • Follows verbal and written directions and ask questions if not understanding.


  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting and/or 6 years of commiserate experience.
  • General understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the area of financial statement preparation, budgeting, payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or the equivalent.
  • 1-2 years’ of Lead experience with a staff of at least 3 employees.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Exhibit a professional and friendly attitude while promoting and working in a team oriented environment; processes incoming telephone calls in a polite manner.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have reading, math and writing skills adequate to perform all duties outlined in Job Description.
  • Able to understand and maintain confidentiality.
  • Organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks at one time.
  • Ability to work with and meet deadlines.
  • Must have computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. Ability to operate a ten key calculator.

Other Preferred Skills/Abilities

  • Experience working in a manufacturing business.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms, to stand, walk and talk or hear. Duties will require continuous sitting with occasional walking, standing, and the climbing of stairs as well as the repetitive use of hands for simple grasping, fine manipulation, and pushing, pulling and reaching for and accessing file cabinet drawers and other documents. The employee is occasionally required to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds. Work flexible hours as needed to meet production schedules and departmental needs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a production floor setting and is usually noisy and dusty. It does not always maintain a consistent temperature but is dry. Noise levels are moderate to high with some chemical odors present. When on the production floor, PPE is required where noted.

Safety Requirements

  • Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment including and not limited to gloves, safety glasses, hard hat and or a respirator may need to be worn when handling hazardous products or working in hazardous environments.
  • Maintain and participates in keeping personal work area, shop and tools clean and in proper working order to ensure safe working environment.
  • Hazardous materials are used in the production process. Employees must follow all safety guidelines and know evacuation procedures, the location of first aid stations and MSDS locations in areas they work or visit on Company property.
