Summary:

Providing customer service, warranty and quality service for Westport, its clients and customers.  This position maintains and works on vessels and buildings doing a variety of operational and maintenance tasks.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Using a variety of solvents and cleaners, thoroughly clean all interior and exterior boat surfaces, washing and drying Westport yachts and brokerage boats;
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of all Westport property;
  • Provide maintenance and troubleshooting to all vessels to include: electrical, mechanical, carpentry, AV/NAV, etc.;
  • Provide a variety of service to customer and Westport vessels to include: decor loading and unloading, consumable loading and unloading, etc.;
  • Perform Material Handling duties to include: packaging and receiving, unloading shipping trucks, organizing shops and keeping inventory, etc.;
  • Travel and assist at Boat Shows as needed;
  • Wear appropriate PPE including gloves, suits, fall protection, safety glasses, respirator, etc.;
  • All duties require frequent sitting, walking, standing, squatting, reaching above shoulder level, and the repetitive and fine manipulation of hands for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, as well as occasional sitting and stair climbing.
  • Ability to pull, push, or lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Requires visual acuity necessary and appropriate to perform all job duties and requirements;
  • Requires auditory acuity capable of hearing a forklift back-up alarm, moving vehicle horns, or other safety alarms and warning signals.
  • Maintain clean work area and tools;
  • Follow all Westport policies and safety rules;
  • Expected to work overtime and flexible hours as needed to meet departmental needs;
  • Maintain an excellent attendance record in line with all attendance policies outlined in the Westport Employee Handbook;
Requirements:
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one prior to hire.
  • Ability to function as a part of an effective team.
  • Ability to follow verbal and pictorial instructions.
  • Requires basic levels of mathematical, reading, writing and communication skills necessary to successfully accomplish the job description, skills and ability requirements as outlined above.
Additional Job Functions: Other Preferred Skills / Abilities:
  • Prefer 1 to 3 year’s experience doing like duties in similar environment.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms, to stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, push or pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment is a production floor setting and is usually noisy and dusty. It does not always maintain a consistent temperature but is dry. Noise levels are moderate to high with some chemical odors present. When on the production floor, PPE is required where noted.
