S\Y ARAVILLA is a beautifully appointed Leopard 46 catamaran designed by Morelli and Melvin and built by Robertson and Caine in South Africa. This is one of the best charter yachts built and ensures our clients have a truly luxury experience. She is the 4-Cabin/4-Head charter model which is the accumulation of 30 years charter experience by some of the largest charter fleets in the world. Built and launched into service in 2010, she was purchased in 2015 and underwent a retrofit to bring her to the current like-new condition. Her home port is St Maarten in the Netherland Antilles where she enjoys year round warmth and sunshine, and is kept in beautiful conditions by her owners.

S\Y ARAVILLA features several unique features to make your charter extra enjoyable. The aft deck bench between davits becomes a swim platform – perfect for afternoon sunning or a launch pad for swimming, snorkeling, or SUP departures. Her single-level cockpit and signature ‘walk-through’ access to the roomy cockpit and aft bathing platform connecting the two transoms ensures navigating the boat at dock or under sail is simple and unencumbered. The integrated cockpit, galley with fold-out countertop, and helm station means entertaining is easy and no one is left out of the party when traveling between destinations – a drink is always close at hand. The massive forward trampoline is the perfect place to socialize with a drink, catch a few rays mid-day, or even sneak in a quick nap when needed. Jump to the controls on the raised helm station located in the hard top roof with open access to the sea.

Inside S\Y ARAVILLA, the high freeboard and streamlined, fine entry hulls offer enough space for even the tallest individuals. In addition, the hulls flare above the waterline providing great interior volume, spacious living accommodations, and reserve buoyancy for sailing in a seaway. The saloon features a bright and airy feeling, and has operable ports forward to let fresh air circulate. The large dinette with wraparound seating and well-outfitted galley show Leopard have taken full advantage of the 25-foot beam. Each hull accommodates two spacious guest cabins (fore and aft) with private ensuite complete with electric head, separate shower stall, and individual basin and shower controls. Cabins are well-ventilated and large windows and hatches provide huge amounts of light.

Captain: Derek Alldritt (39)Captain: Derek Alldritt

The many years spent vacationing in the Caribbean, developing friendships and a strong tie to the community, created a yearning for Derek and Cindy to leave the wintry Canadian climate for the sun, white sands and turquoise waters of the islands. The time came for them to leave their corporate roles, after successful careers in the Financial Services and Technology industries. Over six years ago, they hatched a plan to sell everything in Canada, buy a sailing yacht, and move their lives to the islands to share their passion for their tropical paradise.

Captain Derek’s passion for experiencing life to the fullest has led him to many interesting and fulfilling adventures. From a young age, his love of music has played an important role. Although his educational background is Applied Physics and his professional career was mostly spent in the corporate world working for Global Technology Companies as a Cloud Architect, he spent earlier years touring with various bands as a guitar tech and tour manager. Derek’s creative eye in photography and his scuba diving qualifications blend very well with his life in the Caribbean. His drive to challenge himself is constantly at the forefront, which contributed to his training and completion in marathons, duathalons, triathalons and ultimately several Ironman competitions. Derek’s desire to embrace whatever he does whole-heartedly not only constitutes a great Captain, but also makes him a knowledgeable mechanic, plumber, electrician, electronics, and technology guru. Derek’s wide repertoire of information and knowledge on many topics, his willingness to share his life experiences, and his keen interest in learning about others and endless energy contributes greatly to the overall guest enjoyment and interaction during their entire vacation experience.

Chef/Mate: Cindy Fortuna (54)Chef/Mate: Cindy Fortuna

Born and raised near Toronto, Canada, Chef/Hostess Cindy started her love affair with travel many years ago. Her adventures include climbing Kilimanjaro, safaris in Tanzania, hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, discovering the wonders of the ruins of Cusco and The Sacred Valley, and sand-boarding the dunes in Peru. She has also travelled throughout Canada, gone on numerous trips to explore the sites of Europe and enjoyed many vacations in the Caribbean. Cindy’s dedication to a healthy, active lifestyle has always been a priority, as shown through her zest for running, cycling, swimming and paddle boarding. She has had a passion for food always, and over a lifetime of entertaining has realized that the right food and drink will greatly enhance the guest experience. Her satisfaction comes from providing unique, flavourful, nutritious cuisine, and nothing makes her happier than sharing her creations with others in her beautiful Caribbean paradise. Along with a high standard for customer service and understanding what people need before they ask, honed over decades in Corporate Human Resources, make the guest experience truly her number one priority. The minute you board Aravilla, Cindy will attend to your every need to ensure you have the vacation of a lifetime.

Together, Derek and Cindy create a welcoming, entertaining and relaxing environment customized to make their guest’s vacation a one of a kind tropical getaway. Their goal is to ensure their guests leave with memories of a first class experience found only aboard Aravilla!

What an amazing week! Not sure where to start…Cindy, you are a wonderful cook. You spoiled us every day and every meal with your fabulous concoctions. Just the smells from the kitchen were delicious. Derek, you are certainly the jack of all trades. Very impressive as a captain, and a leader. You certainly know your way around the islands and the boat. Most of of all, thank you for making us feel like KINGS and QUEENS and more importantly, like FAMILY! Can’t wait till next year!

Love you both!
Terri B., Jacksonville

Amazing week! Wonderful memories made! Can’t wait to start the planning for next year’s trip!
Maria, Pennsylvania

We came into this week not knowing if this type of vacation was for us…well we found out almost immediately that it was and a big part of that was because of the two of you! Derek made the choice of ARAVILLA an easy one by making initial arrangements easy and clear! Even though the first few days were a “little breezy”, we were having a blast! Your boat is amazing and we were comfortable the entire time. Cindy, your company and breakfast, lunch and dinners were just simply amazing. Definitely one of the things that made the trip for us!! I think the best outcome of the trip was how quickly we became friends and how easy it was for us to spend time together! You are now part of our family! We look forward to our return next year!!

With Love,
Dan, Pennsylvania

For us this vacation was a dream come true! I have to say I was a little nervous, not knowing what to expect. Would the food be good? Would I get seasick? Would I go stir crazy? Can I get in and out of a dinghy?

To answer, we are all closer than before and we’ve made new friends in you! The food was off the hook! I will most definitely be taking some recipes home. No seasickness! Yay! I LOVE SAILING and will be back next year – that is CERTAIN! Thank you for everything, and especially for going along with all our foolishness!

See you in 2019!

  • What a pleasure to meet you and have you both take us to our race in Nevis. You two have such a great story and are on a wonderful  life adventure. It was sincerely a pleasure and I wish you both the best. Hope to meet you both again soon!
  • Thank you Derek and Cindy for a wonderful experience on your boat! You guys are great hosts and I have enjoyed all your interesting stories. You took great care of us. Thank you so much! And Cindy, your brownies are amazing! Hopefully we will be back next year. All the best!
  • Barend and I had a fantastic time on your boat! You have inspired us to live large, live our dreams, and live like you only have one life. When do you realize you are finally there? That is the real question.

What an amazing trip – trip of a lifetime! With that said, I will be back! Loved, loved, loved every second – great foot, delicious drinks, RELAXATION, beautiful water, riding in the princess seat, attempting to snorkel, riding in the dinghy, Grand Case, my St. Maarten drinks of choice – Blue Moon and Mojitos, and last but not least – Great friends and amazing hosts.
