Summary:

Install and test navigation and audio/video systems in luxury yachts.

Essential Job Functions:

• • Pull, terminate and connect cabling for navigation and audio/video system electronics and confirm basic operation.
  • Travel to other Westport facilities to complete installation and start-up tasks as required to meet production schedules.
  • Wear appropriate PPE including safety glasses, respirator, fall protection etc.
  • Move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Repetitive use of hands for pushing, pulling, simple grasping and fine manipulation.
  • Frequent sitting, twisting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, working in small spaces and reaching above shoulder level.

   

• Basic math, reading and communication skills.
• Ability to read and follow basic system block diagrams, installation schematics and other written and verbal instructions.
• Basic understanding of modern navigation electronics and audio/video equipment.

• • Maintain clean work area.
  • Follow all Westport policies and safety rules.
  • Maintain excellent attendance record.
  • Expected to work overtime and flexible hours as needed to meet production schedules and departmental needs.

• At least 1 year experience working directly with Marine Electronics.
• Formal/vocational training in electronics.
• NMEA Marine Electronics Installer (MEI) Program certification.
• Previous experience with installation and service of multi-room audio/video equipment in.
• Knowledge of Crestron control systems.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, push or pull and lift up to 50 pounds. The work environment is a production floor setting and is usually noisy and dusty. It does not always maintain a consistent temperature but is dry. Noise levels are moderate to high with some chemical odors present. When on the production floor, PPE is required where noted.

Wage range:  $18.00 – $24.00 per hour depending on experience & qualifications.
