Captain: Matt Fraser (28)Captain: Matt Fraser

Matt took to dinghy sailing aged 12, since then adventures on the water have been an inevitable part of his life. Thriving on new experiences; Matt had tried his hand at windsurfing, wake-boarding, snowboarding, taken on a 2,300 mile kayak trip and is even a qualified skydiver. He turned his attention to a career in yachting four years ago and is a qualified RYA Yachtmaster Ocean. Matt’s first yachting jobs saw him spending summers running flotilla holidays on the Turkish Turquoise Coast and throughout the Greek Aegean. Last summer together with Naomi, Matt ran luxury charter holidays aboard Lagoon 52, Aurous sailing around the Ionian islands. Always calm, approachable and found with a smile, Matt will listen to your needs.

Chef/Hostess: Naomi Hawes (27)Chef/Hostess: Naomi Hawes

It wasn't until summer 2014 that Naomi decided to start a career in yacht hosting and since then she has been fortunate enough to sail amongst the Dodecanese Islands in Greece, the Gulf of Hisaronu in Turkey, the Saronic and Argolic Gulfs near Athens and the North and South Ionian as well as gaining some tidal experience whilst completing her RYA Day Skipper on the Isle of Wight.

Cooking for family and friends has always been a passion of Naomi's and she loves to experiment with different cultural cuisines, this combined with a season catering in a 4 star chalet has given her the skills to create mouth-watering dishes as onboard chef.

Her friendly and enthusiastic personality has lent itself to hosting roles and she hopes to welcome you aboard Polar Bear this summer.

Matt & Naomi have worked as a team for the last 3 years and are very excited to have joined Polar Bear in the Balearic islands and to spend this summer exploring the western Med with you.

May 2018 - Service (5 star) always with a smile and always available. Matt and Naomi deserve all the praise they get. Very special people…it has been a spectacular trip.

October 2017 - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! What an absolutely glorious trip, holiday of a lifetime. There are too many wonderful memories to list and I’d find it too difficult to pick a favourite either, but all of it was down to you guys, so thank you enormously.

July 2017 - What an idyllic experience! …We are addicted to yacht life and cannot wait to hopefully experience it again. Matt your calm manner and easy going nature make for a great skipper. Naomi you are an excellent cook, and such a warm and friendly hostess. Thank you for everything!

July 2017 - Thank you both very much for a wonderful week on Polar Bear. Your cheerful and energetic disposition ensured there was never a dull moment. We really appreciated everything you both showed us and taught us. Naomi’s cooking is better than most restaurant’s and Matt’s great at teaching sailing and water sports. The week has felt both long and all too short.

July 2017 - Matt & Naomi are amazing, we have had the most wonderful week onboard, they went above and beyond on every occasion.

June 2017…We all enjoyed your smiley faces and warm nature and nothing for the entire week was any trouble. Everything we asked of you was done with class and a smile. Matt, you are a wonderful sailor and a man who is excellent at his job, parking the boat was a sight to behold! Naomi, your cooking is truly second to none, a different dish of unbelievable standard was served every day - one day more delicious than the next….

June 2017Thank you for letting us enjoy the beautiful yacht, Polar Bear. Amazing hospitality from Matt & Naomi. Lovely anchorages, great sailing in between and so, so much fun with all the water toys, one trip we’ll remember for a long time

May 2017 - Press Trip with Yachting World's Deputy Editor SuperSail Issue October 2017- "It was the first time on a big boat for our young children, and what was blissful for us could have meant seasickness, boredom, and a compulsive inability to stay out of the way when anchoring for them. Instead, they did something extraordinary, they relaxed – and so did we. With our mini-crew safely installed in the enormous forward cockpit under a bimini, there was no danger of sunburn or small fingers slipping too close to a winch. This left us able to actually enjoy some sailing and share the moment when our son or daughter took the wheel for the first time."

"The crew’s enthusiasm for launching each and every water toy, for making any sail change unhesitatingly, and for trying to find the best possible spot in every anchorage really made the Polar Bear experience something special. Nothing was ever too much bother, thanks to their absolute commitment to each one of us having a good time.

In terms of inspiring a passion, our trip on board Polar Bearwas a riotous success. From taking the wheel to exploring nooks and crannies of secret inlets and learning how the chart plotter worked, it could not have been a morememorable introduction to the sheer delights of cruising for the youngest members of our family.

Beyond the incredible hospitality and comfort, it was also a chance for us to reacquaint ourselves with the simple pleasure of sailing with the sun on your back."
