Summary:

Administer Westport’s environmental, health and safety programs to help ensure compliance with State and Federal Agency’s (OSHA, WISHA, ORCCA, and DOE) rules, regulations and reporting requirements. Participate in the continuing development, and implementation, of the environmental, health and safety programs, policies and procedures with the goal of increasing safety and environmental compliance at our facilities.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Accurately document, track and report chemical usage and emissions in various excel tracking sheets for reporting and compliance purposes.
  • Participate and ensure compliance with Stormwater, Wastewater, Hazardous Waste and Air Emissions regulations, including submission of required reports.
  • Participate in inspections, on-site visits.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with government agencies, regulators, co-workers, leaders, managers and vendors.
  • Work closely with Supervisors to coordinate and maintain and ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state and local EHS regulations to ensure compliance and reduce liability.
  • Inspect and conduct walk arounds for environmental and safety purposes.
  • Conduct new-hire and monthly safety training at all three Westport LLC facilities.
  • Participate in Facility Safety Committee meetings.
Requirements:
  • At least 2 years of experience with environmental reporting. Knowledge and experience of: principles and practices of employee and public safety and health administration including safety and health education and training, accident investigation, record keeping, safety committee operation and other services common to employee and public safety; principles and practices of organization and management.
  • Requires high levels of mathematical, reading, writing and communication skills necessary to successfully accomplish the job description, skills and ability requirements as outlined above.
  • Requires above-average skills working with excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to both work alone and with others as a team.
  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Additional Job Functions:
  • Travel between three facilities in Washington State: two in Port Angeles, one in Westport at least once per month – sometimes more often.
  • Inspections and walk arounds require the ability to walk, climb stairs, crawl, bend, kneel, squat, twist, etc.
Other Preferred Skills / Abilities:
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor and self-motivation exhibited effectively as production support.
  • Possession of CHMM, CIH, CSP, RS Certification(s) or higher Safety/Environmental
  • Experience in a composite and/or boat manufacturing facility.

Safety Requirements:

  • This position is classified as Safety Sensitive – Any offer of employment is contingent on negative pre-employment drug screen results including marijuana and THC products.
  • Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment including and not limited to gloves, safety glasses, hard hat and or a respirator may need to be worn when handling hazardous products or working in hazardous environments. Contact lenses are prohibited in Westport LLC production facilities.
  • Participate in keeping personal work area, shop and tools clean and in proper working order to ensure safe working environment.
  • Hazardous materials are used in the production process. Employees must follow all safety guidelines and know evacuation procedures, the location of first aid stations and SDS locations in areas they work or visit on Company property.
Working Conditions:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms, to stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, push or pull and lift up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment is a combination of office and production floor settings and can be noisy and dusty.  It does not always maintain a consistent temperature but is dry.  Noise levels are moderate to high with some chemical odors present.  When on the production floor, PPE is required where noted.

Total Compensation:

Wage range: $28.84– $33.65 per hour – Depending on experience and demonstration of skills.
